Finals of The National Read-Aloud Contest

The finals of The National Read-Aloud Contest were held yesterday at Breiðholtskirkja Church. Two contestants from each school in Breiðholt participated, with Seljaskóli representatives claiming first place and one of the Hólabrekkuskóli representatives securing third place.
Our representatives, Aya and Hrefna, performed excellently and brought credit to themselves and our school. Linda served as the alternate, and alternates must also attend the competition, ready to step in if needed, which means they have to practice both contestants' reading materials!
All five schools contributed musical performances, with Kara Kristrún Bergmann, 6. BG, representing our school. Kara, who plays the flute, delivered the opening performance.
The photo features the three contestants along with Kara, her classmate Sóldís, Friðjón the homeroom teacher, and Björgvin the assistant principal.
